iTunes
Digital music hub
iTunes is Apple's media software and digital storefront, launched in 2001 to manage music libraries and sync with iPods.
It expanded to sell music, movies, TV shows, podcasts, and apps, becoming the dominant digital music retailer.
The name combines the personal pronoun with tunes, following Apple's "i" branding convention.
Apple has since split iTunes into separate apps on newer devices, though the name persists for the store and on older systems.
