Blu-rays
High-definition optical media
Blu-rays are optical discs designed for storing high-definition video and large amounts of data, succeeding DVDs as the standard format for home video.
The name refers to the blue-violet laser used to read the disc, which allows for finer data storage than the red laser used for DVDs.
I still buy Blu-rays for movies I really love.
The format emerged victorious from a format war with HD DVD in the late 2000s and remains popular among collectors who prefer physical media.
