Beefeaters

London fortress sentinels

Beefeaters are the ceremonial guards at the Tower of London, officially called Yeomen Warders.

They wear distinctive Tudor-era uniforms—dark blue daily, scarlet and gold for state occasions—and serve as guides and caretakers of the historic fortress.

The name likely comes from their once-generous rations of beef.

All are retired senior military personnel with distinguished service records.
