colour guard

Ceremonial flag corps

A colour guard is a ceremonial unit that carries and escorts flags—regimental colours, national flags, or organizational banners—during parades and official functions.

In American usage, color guard also refers to the flag and equipment performers in a marching band, spinning rifles, sabres, and flags in choreographed routines: She made the color guard her junior year.
