4:3

Old television shape

4:3 is an aspect ratio describing the proportional relationship between width and height, where the width is four units for every three units of height.

This was the standard shape for television screens and computer monitors before widescreen formats became dominant: old TVs had a 4:3 aspect ratio.

Also written as 4×3.

Films shot in this format appear nearly square compared to modern widescreen displays.
