slat

Thin wood piece

A slat is a thin, narrow strip of wood, metal, or plastic, typically one of several arranged parallel to each other: sunlight filtered through the slats of the blinds, the slats of a bed frame.

Slats appear in fences, shutters, benches, and crates—anywhere rigid strips create a structure while allowing air or light to pass between them.
