electrical load
Circuit's energy draw
An electrical load is any device or component that consumes electrical power in a circuit—lights, motors, appliances, heaters.
The term also refers to the total power demand on a system at a given time: The grid struggled under the electrical load during the heat wave.
Engineers calculate loads to ensure circuits and power supplies can handle demand without overheating or failing.
