walkup
No elevator apartment
A walkup is a building, typically an apartment building, without an elevator—residents must walk up the stairs.
The term also refers to an apartment in such a building: a fourth-floor walkup in Brooklyn.
As an adjective, it describes services requiring no appointment: a walkup window, walkup tickets.
In these cases, customers simply walk up without prior arrangement.
