videodisc
Film storage medium
A videodisc is a disc that stores video content for playback, typically through a dedicated player connected to a television.
The term covers several formats that competed before DVDs won out—most notably LaserDisc, which used optical technology to deliver higher-quality images than VHS tapes.
Now largely obsolete, superseded by DVDs and streaming.
