viaducts
Bridges spanning valleys
Viaducts is the plural of viaduct, a long bridge-like structure carrying a road or railway across a valley, gorge, or other low-lying area.
Unlike bridges that typically span water, viaducts often cross dry land and consist of a series of arches or spans supported by tall piers: The train crossed the valley on a stone viaduct built in the 1890s.
