Windmill's rotating arms
Vanes are flat or curved blades arranged around an axis to interact with air, water, or other fluids.
A weather vane catches wind to show direction.
Turbine vanes convert fluid flow into rotation.
Fan vanes push air.
The word also names the flat part of a feather on either side of the shaft: The arrow's vanes kept it flying straight.
