tower mill
Swiveling cap windmill
A tower mill is a type of windmill with a stationary stone or brick tower and a rotating cap at the top that turns to face the wind.
Unlike post mills, where the entire structure rotates, only the cap and sails move, allowing for taller, more substantial construction.
Tower mills became the dominant windmill design in Europe from the medieval period onward: The old tower mill still stands at the edge of the village.
