upselling

Suggesting pricier alternatives

Upselling is the sales practice of encouraging a customer to buy a more expensive version of what they're already purchasing, or to add extras: The waiter tried upselling us on the premium wine.

It differs from cross-selling, which promotes related but different products.

The verb is upsell: They upsell every customer on the extended warranty.
