ultrasound machine
Medical imaging device
An ultrasound machine uses high-frequency sound waves to create images of structures inside the body.
The device sends pulses into tissue and measures their echoes, producing real-time pictures on a screen.
Most familiar from prenatal imaging—We saw the baby on the ultrasound machine—it's also used to examine organs, guide biopsies, and assess blood flow.
Unlike X-rays, ultrasound involves no radiation.
