fetal ultrasound

Prenatal imaging scan

A fetal ultrasound is a medical imaging procedure that uses sound waves to create pictures of a developing baby in the uterus.

It allows healthcare providers to monitor fetal growth, check for abnormalities, determine gestational age, and often reveal the baby's sex.

Most pregnant women receive at least one ultrasound, typically around 18-20 weeks, though they may be performed earlier or more frequently depending on circumstances.

The fetal ultrasound showed the baby was developing normally.
