ukase
Autocrat's binding proclamation
A ukase is an edict or decree, originally one issued by a Russian czar with the force of law.
The word now applies to any arbitrary or authoritative command: The CEO's ukase forbade working from home.
It often carries a note of criticism—suggesting the order brooks no discussion.
