collective agreement

Negotiated labor terms

A collective agreement is a contract negotiated between an employer and a labor union representing workers, setting terms for wages, hours, benefits, and working conditions.

Unlike individual employment contracts, collective agreements cover all workers in the bargaining unit: The collective agreement guaranteed annual raises and overtime pay.
