parochial
Limited in scope
Parochial means narrow in scope or outlook, limited to a small area or group.
A parochial perspective fails to consider the wider world: The board's parochial concerns ignored the company's global challenges.
The word comes from parish—a local church district—and can still mean literally relating to a parish: parochial schools.
The figurative sense dominates, usually carrying a critical edge: someone parochial is provincial, insular, unable or unwilling to see beyond their immediate surroundings.
