thought leader
Influential expert voice
A thought leader is someone recognized as an authority in a particular field, whose ideas shape how others think about that domain.
The term emerged from business and marketing contexts, where it often describes consultants, executives, or experts who publish influential content.
It can sound self-important or hollow when self-applied: His LinkedIn bio calls him a thought leader in blockchain.
Genuinely influential thinkers rarely need the label.
