subregions
Parts within territories
Subregions are smaller divisions within a larger region, created for administrative, geographic, or analytical purposes.
A country might be divided into subregions for census data, a continent into subregions for climate study, or a market into subregions for sales tracking.
The term appears frequently in geography, economics, and policy documents where breaking down large areas into manageable parts aids understanding or governance.
The UN divides Africa into five subregions.
