Governor's territorial jurisdiction
A governorate is an administrative division of a country, headed by a governor.
The term appears primarily in Middle Eastern and North African nations—Egypt, Iraq, Saudi Arabia—where governorates function similarly to provinces or states elsewhere: The governorate of Cairo is Egypt's most populous.
The word also applies to historical territories under colonial governors.
