subhumans

Less than people

Subhumans is the plural of subhuman—people regarded as less than fully human.

The term has been used to justify atrocities, from Nazi propaganda labeling Jews and Slavs as *Untermenschen* to rhetoric dehumanizing other groups targeted for persecution.

It remains deeply offensive, reducing people to something beneath human dignity: The regime's newspapers called them subhumans who didn't deserve to live.
