the elect
Divinely selected group
The elect are those chosen or selected, especially by divine will.
In Christian theology, the elect are people God has predestined for salvation: Only the elect shall enter heaven.
More broadly, the elect can mean any privileged or specially chosen group: The party's inner circle considered themselves the elect.
The term often carries connotations of exclusivity or spiritual superiority.
