savages
Tears apart verbally
Savages is an old and now offensive term for people considered primitive or uncivilized—typically Indigenous peoples as viewed by European colonizers.
A Virginia planter in 1750 might write of savages on the frontier.
The word also describes anyone who behaves with extreme cruelty or brutality: The critics were absolute savages.
As a verb, to savage is to attack ferociously: The dog savaged the intruder; Reviews savaged the film.
