steelpans
Trinidad's melodic drums
Steelpans are musical instruments made from oil drums, with the top hammered into tuned sections that produce different pitches when struck with mallets.
Originating in Trinidad, they're central to calypso and soca music.
A group of steelpan players forms a steel band.
Also called steel drums.
