fete
Honor with festivities
A fete is a festival or celebration, especially an elaborate outdoor party or fair: the village fete, a garden fete.
The word retains its French flavor and sometimes its accent (fête).
To fete someone is to honor them with a celebration or lavish attention: The returning hero was feted with a parade.
