soca
Caribbean party music
Soca is a genre of popular music that originated in Trinidad and Tobago in the 1970s, blending calypso with Indian rhythms and electronic dance music elements.
The name combines "soul" and "calypso." Characterized by uptempo beats, call-and-response vocals, and infectious energy, soca dominates Caribbean carnival celebrations and has spread throughout the diaspora.
The soca rhythm had everyone on their feet.
