tabla
Paired hand drums
Tabla is a pair of hand drums used in classical Indian music and other South Asian musical traditions.
The set consists of two drums of different sizes and pitches: the smaller, higher-pitched daya played with the dominant hand, and the larger, bass-toned baya.
Tabla players produce an extraordinary range of tones and rhythms through precise finger and palm techniques.
She studied tabla for years before performing publicly.
