starfield

Sky full of stars

A starfield is a region of space filled with visible stars, or an image depicting such a scene.

In astronomy, it refers to the background of stars against which celestial objects are observed.

In computing and media, starfield describes the effect of stars streaming past, simulating space travel: The screensaver showed a starfield rushing toward the viewer.
