squeeze-out

Minority shareholder elimination

A squeeze-out is a corporate maneuver where majority shareholders force minority shareholders to sell their stakes, typically at a price set by the majority.

The term also applies more broadly to any situation where someone is pressured out of a position or organization: The merger was really just a squeeze-out of the founder.

In legal contexts, squeeze-out provisions allow consolidation of ownership once a threshold is reached.
