squat thrusts

Down-up exercise move

Squat thrusts are a calisthenic exercise performed by dropping from standing into a squat with hands on the floor, kicking the legs back into a plank position, returning to the squat, and standing up again.

The movement is performed rapidly and repeatedly for conditioning: The drill sergeant had us doing squat thrusts until we collapsed.

Also called burpees, though burpee purists insist on a push-up and jump being included.
