soprano sax

Smallest common saxophone

A soprano saxophone is the highest-pitched member of the saxophone family in common use.

Unlike the curved body of alto and tenor saxophones, the soprano is usually straight, giving it a clarinet-like appearance.

Its tone is brighter and more piercing: Kenny G made the soprano sax ubiquitous in smooth jazz.

Also called soprano saxophone.
