squeal

High shrill noise

Squeal is a high-pitched, prolonged cry or sound—the noise a pig makes, or a child in excitement, or brakes that need replacing.

To squeal is to make such a sound: The tires squealed as the car took the corner.

In slang, to squeal is to inform on someone to authorities: He squealed to the cops about the whole operation.
