socialists
Advocates for redistribution
Socialists are people who advocate for socialism—an economic system where the means of production are owned collectively rather than by private individuals.
The term covers a wide spectrum, from democratic socialists who work within electoral systems to revolutionary socialists who seek to overthrow capitalism.
In American political discourse, socialist is often used loosely as an epithet for anyone favoring government intervention in the economy: Republicans called the healthcare plan socialist.
