communists
Advocates for collectivism
Communists are people who support or advocate for communism—a political and economic ideology favoring collective ownership of property and the means of production.
The term applies broadly to anyone holding such views, from casual sympathizers to active revolutionaries: The communists organized a demonstration downtown.
During the Cold War, communists became a catch-all accusation for political enemies, sometimes applied loosely to anyone with leftist views. (Capitalized Communists typically refers to party members.)
