small caps

Shrunken uppercase letters

Small caps are letters shaped like capitals but sized closer to lowercase letters.

They appear in typography for emphasis, abbreviations, or stylistic effect: The author's name appeared in SMALL CAPS on the title page.

In digital text, true small caps are distinct from simply shrinking capital letters, which produces thinner strokes that look wrong alongside regular text.
