sider

One who chooses

A sider is someone who takes a particular side in a dispute or conflict.

The word appears almost exclusively with a prefix indicating which side: a both-sider who refuses to make judgments, single-siders in the vinyl debate.

In gaming contexts, a sider may refer to a card or strategy kept in reserve—short for sideboard card.
