snap shot
Casual camera capture
A snap shot is a quick photograph taken without much preparation or composition, capturing a moment spontaneously rather than through careful staging.
The term also applies in hockey and other sports to a quick, wrist-powered shot taken without a full windup: He fired a snap shot past the goalie.
Written as two words, snap shot emphasizes the quickness of the action; the single word *snapshot* has become more common for casual photographs.
I got a snap shot of the kids before they ran off.
