rockpooling

Shore creature hunting

Rockpooling is the activity of exploring tidal pools along rocky shorelines, typically searching for marine creatures like crabs, anemones, and small fish.

A common family pastime at beaches, especially in Britain: We spent the afternoon rockpooling with the kids.

Also called tidepooling in American English.
