saturation diving
Prolonged deep-sea habitation
Saturation diving is a technique where divers live in a pressurized environment for days or weeks, allowing their body tissues to become fully saturated with breathing gases at depth.
This eliminates repeated decompression—divers decompress only once at the end.
Used for deep commercial work on oil rigs and underwater structures: The crew spent three weeks in saturation diving on the pipeline repair.
