splash zone
Where water lands
A splash zone is the area near a water feature—pool, fountain, water ride, marine animal tank—where spectators or bystanders are likely to get wet.
At amusement parks and aquariums, seating in the splash zone comes with explicit warning that you will be soaked.
The term extends to any situation where proximity to action means exposure to its effects: The front tables at the comedy club are definitely in the splash zone.
