ricksha

Human-powered taxi

Ricksha is a variant spelling of rickshaw—a small two-wheeled passenger vehicle pulled by a person on foot or pedaling a bicycle.

The word comes from Japanese for "human-powered vehicle." Once common throughout Asia, traditional pulled rickshaws have largely given way to cycle rickshaws and motorized versions: We hired a ricksha to get through the crowded streets.
