rickshas

Human-powered taxis

Rickshas is a plural of rickshaw, a light two-wheeled passenger vehicle pulled by a person on foot or pedaling a bicycle.

The word comes from Japanese for "human-powered vehicle." Once common across Asia, hand-pulled rickshas have largely given way to bicycle and motorized versions: The streets were crowded with rickshas and taxis.
