respiratory rate
Breaths per minute
Respiratory rate is the number of breaths a person takes per minute, measured by counting chest rises.
It's a vital sign monitored alongside pulse, blood pressure, and temperature.
Normal adult respiratory rate at rest ranges from 12 to 20 breaths per minute; rates outside this range may indicate illness, distress, or exertion.
