cardiac rhythm
Heart's electrical cadence
Cardiac rhythm is the pattern of electrical impulses that coordinate heartbeats.
A normal cardiac rhythm—sinus rhythm—originates in the heart's natural pacemaker and produces steady, regular beats.
Abnormal cardiac rhythms (arrhythmias) may be too fast, too slow, or irregular: The monitor showed an irregular cardiac rhythm.
Medical contexts often shorten this to simply rhythm: We need to restore normal rhythm.
