CO2
What plants absorb
CO2 is the chemical formula for carbon dioxide—a colorless gas composed of one carbon atom bonded to two oxygen atoms.
It occurs naturally in the atmosphere and is produced by combustion, respiration, and fermentation.
In contemporary usage, CO2 often appears in discussions of climate change, as it's the primary greenhouse gas from human activity: efforts to reduce CO2 emissions, carbon capture technology.
