gallop

Fastest equine stride

Gallop is the fastest gait of a horse, a bounding run where all four hooves leave the ground simultaneously.

The word extends to any rapid pace: We galloped through the presentation.

A gallop is also an instance of this gait: We took the horses for a gallop across the field.

At full gallop means at top speed.
