probie
Newbie under evaluation
A probie is a probationary employee—someone new to a job who hasn't yet earned full status.
The term is especially common in firefighting and police work, where rookies undergo evaluation periods: The probies got stuck cleaning the trucks.
It carries affectionate condescension, marking someone as green but on their way.
