on probation
Under supervised release
On probation describes someone serving a trial period under specific conditions.
In criminal justice, a person on probation has been convicted but released instead of imprisoned, supervised by a probation officer who monitors compliance: He was on probation for two years after the assault charge.
More broadly, it describes any conditional status where continued membership depends on improved performance: The student was placed on academic probation after failing two classes.
