preeclampsia

Dangerous gestational hypertension

Preeclampsia is a dangerous pregnancy complication marked by high blood pressure and protein in the urine, typically appearing after the twentieth week.

Left untreated, it can progress to seizures (eclampsia) and threaten the lives of mother and baby.

The only cure is delivering the baby, which may require early induction: She was diagnosed with preeclampsia at 34 weeks.
